Yeah, I said it!

I have been in a reading slump all December because I’d caught the travel bug which, if you have travelled, takes up a lot of your time and energy, leaving little room for reading.

Good news is, I’m back and ready to smash through my TBR;
bad news, my TBR is still stuck in 2019.

I couldn’t just waltz into the first month of a new year, let alone a new decade without doing a TBR post and part of me feels as if I’m letting myself down by, well, having a suckish TBR. I just mean I would love if this month’s TBR was different to December’s of 2019 but then I wouldn’t have such a clickbait-y title.

New Year, Same TBR.

I did an optimistic post about my three-novel December TBR which honestly seemed quite possible to read in one month. If I’d actually read all three novels, I would have completed my Goodreads reading goal for 2019 but alas, I only read one.

I have some real existential moments from time to time. One of these moments being when I realised that a new year is not a new start, rather just a moment in time that we celebrate to distract us from the fact that time is continuous and the dawn of a new year is just reason for celebration.

Anyways, because of this, I wasn’t going to throw away my December TBR and start a new one. No, I am going to continue reading and let my unread books flow through into the next month just as I would any other month.

My January 2020 TBR consists of only two books by two Aussie authors.

Vengeance Blooms by Chloe Hodge (purchased from Chloe’s website)

The first is a genre that I am unfamiliar with and the second is fantasy, something I love to read. I wanted to challenge myself last month by reading various genres but WPD has put me in a little bit of a slump and I am so so determined to finish it. Instead, I am writing this post and watching Lucifer for the fourth time.

 

Once I post this, I’m switching off and reading.

I hope.

I’m bad at promises to myself.

I really want to finish this book.

I hate DNFing novels…
