The Start of NaNoWriMo!!

Heyo Bookaholics!

Ah, Another Year Of Fake Optimism!

So NaNoWriMo started yesterday…

I only remembered to write because of @TheYARoom’s The Write Night on Twitter or I would have forgotten altogether. It actually allowed me to take a break from the horrid assignment I’d been working on all yesterday afternoon and smash out 610 words!

My goal for the day was 2,000 as per my planning document, which I made and takes into account every day I’m busy, lowering the word count on those days and increasing the goal on days I’m not. You can see this in my Basic Guide to Planning for NaNoWriMo.

I’ve totally just rambled about my day one progress, I haven’t even told you what my story is even about! Don’t worry because I can actually tell you this. The snart person that I am, planned the entire plot out before starting so I now have an idea of what goes where, when.

What Am I Writing?

I am actually adventuring into my first ever Middle-Grade novel, hoping to channel my smart-ass, shitty year nine self.

The story revolves around two high-school best friends who come into some trouble with an old witch. They hatch a plan and leave at bedtime, looking for the witch, instead finding much much more than they expected.

The story revolves around two to three main characters and is (currently) being told in first-person from the point of view from our protagonist; Alyson. I was writing while tired last night which means that she sounds really angsty and exactly like any other teenager who hates high-school.

This is all I can tell you about it for now, but look out for more updates here during the month of November!

Goal Setting.

I’ve set myself daily word count goals and word count totals to keep track of my progress. I may not meet them perfectly but at least I will be noting down my progress daily and keeping myself accountable for the work I am doing 🙂

Good Luck!

To all of the Bookaholics participating in NaNoWriMo this year, I wish you all the best on your journey and I hope you win or at least come close. If you don’t, I hope that you are proud of your achievements this month and continue to write well into the new year xx
