A Hectic October Wrap-Up & #Realise Progress Update!

Heyo Bookaholics!

*Endless Screaming*

This was supposed to be posted on Thursday (hence the modified header) but due to internet outages at home and using all my data on my last assignment meant I couldn’t publish my post when I wanted.

Now the internet is back up, which means I bring to you two posts today! I hope you enjoy these and the upcoming posts xx

Books Read!

I fell very short of achieving my October TBR of 3 books but I did get to my most anticipated read of the month; What The Woods Keep by Katya De Becerra (review linked).

I saw Katya speak at my university’s writer’s day where I finally asked her to sign my book for me.

I also started The YA Room’s book of the month for October, Frankly In Love by David Yoon! I’m loving it so far but I need to read it before Tuesday afternoon or I’ll be suffering from spoilers at the book meet *shocked face*.

Was your month of reading more successful than mine??

Events & Achievements!

I love doing thins because it’s like a mini reflection and collation of things that I couldn’t show off in their own individual posts. So, in no particular order, here are a few cool things that have occurred this month!

Reached 900 Followers on Instagram

Screen Shot 2019 11 02 at 11.50.35 am 300x91 - A Hectic October Wrap-Up & #Realise Progress Update!I put on my story about a week ago that I was just over 10 followers away from 900 and thanks to the support of my friends, I reached the goal of 900 followers by the end of October!

I am honestly so freaking excited to have achieved this! I really want to reach 1k by the end of the year and if I do I will be doing a Giveaway on my Instagram and blog 🙂 It’ll be Book Depository related, but let me know if you want anything else in the Giveaway because this is such a huge deal for me.

What do you want to see in a Giveaway when I reach 1k on Instagram??

Spooky Luna Park

Luna Park Melbourne held an event for Halloween that spanned 8 days in which they transform the park into Spooky Luna Park, with themed rides, actors and decorations. We, of course, took so many photos in front of all the spooky decorations and dressed up as Harry Potter students (as seen below).

There are far too many photos to even try and choose my favourites, so I just settled on this group pic as a lil sneak peek of what’s to come on my Instagram 😉

Filming with Kat & Cait

Kat sent me a message and asked if I wanted to be a part of this thing Halloween video she was planning to film and of course, I said yes!

We dressed up as each member of The YA Room, I was Bianca, Kat was Sarah and Cait was Shaun. We filmed the entire video in Dymocks CBD which is huge and had the largest selection of books for us to film and pose with 🙂

Kat explained each outfit in the video and I want to thank her so much for allowing me to be a part of this project. It was so much fun to film and just be silly with friends around books.

Impromptu Road Trip with Sarah!

Like any fun adventure, Sarah and I planned this adventure not even 12 hours before we left! We go to go to this one bookstore that I’ve been wanting to visit forever, wrote and drank multiple coffees in cute cafes and wandered through bushlands, taking photos along the way.

It was such a fun trip and reminded me of the importance of spontaneity, fresh air and the beauty that exists outside of the city and suburbs of Melbourne.

Odyssey Literary Festival

I attended the Odyssey Literary Festival with Lucie and Sarah to listen to the YA Panel with Danielle Binks, Alison Evans, Nina Kenwood and Astrid Scholte! You can read the blog post on it, or watch the vlog I put together (below)!

I also met Melanie Schubert which was such a wonderful surprise! I was over the moon to actually meet her in person. She is an author whom sent me her first ever published novel, a middle-grade, a while back. She is working on writing YA and I wish her all the best with her writing and getting published.

Last Day of Semester!

It was a sad but amazing night. My friends will not be with me for the one subject I have left to complete next year and it’s so surreal that the three years that is our course is already over and that we are all moving on to big corporate jobs so soon.

How was your October??

Book Haul!

Unlike last month, I actually acquired novels! Most of which were gifted or sent to me by friends.

Tacy (@trufflebooks / www.trufflereads.com) gifted me two books this month: Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo & Frankly In Love by David Yoon.

I purchased The Book of Dust 2 by Philip Pullman (as seen in my second vlog on my channel) & Vengeance Blooms by Chloe Hodge.

Just yesterday I received The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert from Sara, my book swap buddy. She also has a blog the same name as her Instagram @scientificstars (please send her some love). So happy this could make it into my wrap-up!
I want to do blog posts/ a video on the book swap process. I’ll probably include it when I read and review this novel.

What books did you acquire this October??

#Realise Progress Update!

In a post at the start of this month, I vowed to write at least 17,500 words in the month of October.

Big lol

I think I started off with somewhere around 33,000 words at the start of October, finishing the month with a shocking but also disappointing 36,500 words.

*cue annoying game-show loser buzzer*

In all honesty, it might have been achievable if I wasn’t so focused on not running myself through the ground with stress. I had so much work to do in October as it was the month of assignment due dates, as well as the weekly 3hours of homework for this one class that I hate with a passion (the teacher was sweet tho so no shade to her, I’d just failed the subject once before).

Anyways, the total word count for Realise is now at 36,557!
Not too bad 🙂

Anticipation For November!

I cannot wait for the release of The Guenivere Deception by Kiersten White which is the first book in the upcoming Camalot Rising series.

I recently read Once & Future by A. Carpetta and C. McCarthy and came to the realisation that I absolutely love retellings, especially ones that call out the injustice in the original stories (and make the characters queer). There is also a huge lack of Arthurian retellings so I’m very excited about this one.

What you are looking forward to for November?

Other Things Happening In November:

    • NaNoWriMo 🙂
      * Post coming next up about starting NaNo 2k19
    • Exams 🙁
      * I’ve told everyone I know that I’ll be MIA this month, oops (except on social media)
    • Korea Trip with Sarah!!
      * Expect heaps of photos, videos and blog posts!!
