June has been a blast (but like a messy blast)!
I haven’t done a wrap-up post in a long time and I’m super keen to be posting this one today! Aside from the fact that this was meant to be posted yesterday (Saturday), and it is 11 pm on a Sunday, but better late than never as I’d say.

Books I Read!
I managed to read three and a half books this month. I only pictured three because I’m ashamed that I didn’t finish the fourth one before the month’s end.
Pictured below: Heartstopper by Alice Oseman (★★★★★), Kindred: 12 Queer #LoveOzYA Stories edited by Michael Earp (★★★★★) Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman (★★★★★). The first two books were read for the Rainbow TBR set by @TheYARoom for Pride Month.

I am currently halfway through Someday by David Levithan, the third book on my Rainbow TBR. I am hoping to finish it by Wednesday but with the way my reading is going, I’m not sure if that’s going to happen (cross your fingers for me please).
Book Haul!
I surprisingly didn’t buy any books this month, but I was kindly sent books from publishers.
I received Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer who also wrote A Curse So Dark and Lonely which I fell in love with; Toffee by Sarah Crossan who is known for her novel Moonrise; and Pan’s Labyrinth by Del Toro and Funke all sent from Bloomsbury publishing who are amazing.
As of this month, Pan Macmillian Aus has begun sent me a couple of novels including The Astrid Notes by Taryn Bashford as well as Ghosts of The Shadow Market by Cassandra Claire (not pictured because I forgot…oops) after I held a giveaway on my Instagram!
Side Note: Please excuse my foot, she really wants to be a model and thinks that her low socks are the sexiest item she owns and wanted to show them off. She also wants you to know that these socks are comfy af and are don’t fall down at all so not hate.
Bookish (& non-bookish) Events!
I like to get out of the house (and office) during the week, mostly to see my friends and have a good time. I’ve listed a few of my favourite activities of the month below!
Bookish: TheYARoom held a book meet for their book of the month of May, Aurora Rising, and last Tuesday (2/7) another book meet took place for Kindred, the book of the month for June. I didn’t blog about the events, but I do have reviews for both novels which are linked below.
I also attended the writer’s meet held by TheYAPage. I was so excited to see all of my friends after so long, I didn’t even get any writing done! I post about all of these events on my Instagram @thebookishbree so follow me on there for all the fun pics.
Non-Bookish:
I went to one of my first proper maker’s market with one of my best friends! It was so much fun I bought cute earrings. One pair is gold circles with cream hearts (left), and the other is a creme dot with silver faces (right). They’re so much fun to wear but aren’t the most comfortable with my over-ear headphones.
Here I am wearing both earrings!
My boyfriend also started teaching me how to use a bo staff which I’m pretty stoked about!
Hopes For July!
This month I plan to do a few things, both bookish and non-bookish.
My bookish goals include: finally finishing Someday by David Levithan, blog regularly, maybe post some YouTube videos and give you some book reviews this month.
Non-bookish goals are along the lines of; finally booking flights to Sydney, finish assignments for my placement unit on time and organise my holiday to occur next year.
Not sure if you’re seeing the theme in these goals, but I leave a lot of things unfinished – especially when there is no penalty deadline for them – and it’s kind of a bad habit I have… that and procrastination.
What did you do in June?
I always like to reflect on the months gone and not let them pass me by. I try to focus on the positives but also the negatives in order to learn from them both and take forward what I can to better myself as a person and a professional in both my career and personal life.
