Heyo Bookaholics!
Fantasy TBR Time!
I know I promised a Wednesday post, but while writing it, I had a slight existential crisis and didn’t finish it… So on-brand for me.
I have had these four books sitting on my desk for a month in anticipation for this TBR, and I finally get to read them!
After reading a bunch of contemporaries and urban fantasies in the last couple of months, I have this urge to get back into reading fantasy/ high fantasy novels and catch up on some ARCs of novels which were released in July.
AUGUST TBR
As pictured, this month I have chosen to read 4 books. 2 are ARCs released in July, and 2 are novels written by Australian (Melbourne-based) authors!
ARCs send by Bloomsbury Publishing
- ONCE & FUTURE by Amy Rose Capetta & Cori McCarthy (Released on 3rd June 2019)
- DARK BLADE by Steve Feasey (Released on 11th of July 2019)
Australian (Melbourne-Based) Authors
- WHAT THE WOODS KEEP by Katya De Becerra
- FOUR DEAD QUEENS by Astrid Scholte (See my post about the book launch here)
Disclaimer: I receive a small commission if you purchase a novel via the Book Depository link provided above.
You can see all these books on my Goodreads TBR on the right sidebar 🙂
At the time of posting this review, I have read ONCE & FUTURE all the way through, and I’ve been ranting about it on Twitter non-stop!
Let me tell you! This novel is the most amazing gender-bent retelling of an old story! It is queer af, full of magic, romance, teenagers, space, and friendship! The bad, unnecessarily sexist and homicidal parts of the Arthurian legends are omitted, where the good parts with an actual message are addressed in a way that the characters learn from the event.
I’m going to stop and leave the rant for the review which will be posted on Monday 12th of August!
Let me know what books are on your TBR for this month down in the comments below or on my recent Instagram post!
