Hey Bookaholics, it’s finally Spring!
I saw this tag posted on The Reader & The Chef, and I knew I just had to do it! This Spring Tag is hosted by Beyond The Book Reviews and I’m Mad For Books, Luv which they posted back in March of this year when it was Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
1. What is your Spring TBR?
I have a massive TBR for the season of spring. The books I’m going to read are in three different formats; paperback, hardback, and eBook. I made a September + October TBR post that includes all the physical and electronic books I am going to be reading in the next two months.
The physical books I plan to read pictured above are:
- The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
- Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling (which I plan to leave till the end of September)
- Steampunks edited by K. Link & G. Grant
2. If someone asked for your spring release recommendation, what would you recommend?
TALES OF THE PECULIAR BY RANSOM RIGGS!!!
I am dying to read this book because I only recently finished the Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children series also by Ransom Riggs, and you can check out my Library of Souls review which I am warning you, does contain spoilers.
This small book is a prequel to Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children series and contains fairytale stories that are referenced in the trilogy by both the Peculiars and Miss Peregrine. These fairytales take place before the Peculiar series and are about Peculiar animals and children, written to hide a message about the origins and history of the Peculiar world.
3. Which two books are you eagerly awaiting that releases within the next two months?
FINALLY JAMES DASHNER IS GIVING US ANOTHER MADE RUNNER NOVEL!!!!! When I heard the announcement for this novel I nearly fell out of my chair and I’m almost 100% sure I stoppedbreathing for about five seconds. I own the whole Maze Runner collection and in my opinion they just kept getting better. It might sound wierd but my favourite book was the prequal: The Kill Order. I favoured those characters over the main Maze Runner cast, and I also believe that their fight, although short, was more action packed and worthwhile.
Metaltown by Kristen Simmons is a book I’ve een seeing all over Instagram, although it isn’t out yet people have been receiving ARCs from TorTeen an imprint of Harper Collins and it sounds amazing. I especially favour steampunk fantasy novels over any others and I have been in a major steampunk hunk recently, checking out all the steampunk short story books from my school library and binge reading them. So I especially can’t wat it read this one.
If you have any Steampunk book recs, please comment below. I love being recomended books and seeing what other people chose to read.
4. Which character would make a great easter bunny?
Because I live in Australia, Spring occurs during the months of September, October, and November, so it is nowhere near Easter but I will answer this question anyways as I think Jace Herondale would make the perfect Easter Bunny.
Please imagine Jace rocking up to the Institute as an Easter bunny during an obligatory Easter party hosted by Clary who wanted to uphold tradition and once Simon realises it is Jace inside the suit, he bursts out laughing and can’t stop laughing for the rest of the night, especially when Jace does silly dances and bunny hops in an attempt to make Malec’s children laugh.
also found this cute drawing on google by Nia-Neko on deviant art. there is surprisingly a lack of easter edits 🙁
5. What makes you think of Spring?
Flowers and Romance. This is a major theme in a lot of contempory books that are suppose to be “Spring Themed” or are set in spring time, so I guess it’s only natural that the firt two words that came to mind were ‘flowers and romance’. I would’ve said hayfever, because nearly everyone around me at the moment is constantly blowing their noses and itching their eyes, but that isn’t really bookish…
6. Name a cover with flowers on it.
My all time favourite: Zac & Mia by A. J. Betts
This is a photo I posted on Instagram a while ago and I absolutely love it. This book is one I’ve mentioned a few times both on my blog and on Instagram. It is signed as I met the author at my school library and I was so shy that I was barely even able to tell her my name. I do hope I am able to meet her again one day to discuss this book because it was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster!
7. Which two characters would you go on an Easter egg hunt with?
As I said earlier it is nowhere near Easter time, but I would totally go on an easter hunt with the Peculiar children. I think they would make the experience a whole lot more magical and a lot more fun.
8. What is your favourite bookish activity to do?
Bookstore hopping.
There are three bookstores on High Street near my school which I love to walk to after school when the weather is nice. Brown & Buntings Booksellers, Allsorts Secondhand Books and The Book Grocer are the bookstores I frequent almost biweekly.
9. Which book did you enjoy that had a Springish cover?
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven was a beautiful book, with a beautiful cover that I surprisingly want to read again.
I have linked the review I did for this book a while ago which I recommend you all checking out because I had many mixed feelings about this book, but I would totally recommend you all read this and share your view with me in the comments on this post or my review post.
I have had many thoughts about this book after writing that review and I really want to read it again. Not because I want to change my mind on the story but because I really enjoyed the depth of the characters, and I feel that at a time like this, I need these characters to ground me and make me feel like I have someone to relate to.
10. Who is your favourite contemporary Author?
Who else besides David Levithan, the author of my all-time favourite contemporary books including Every Day and Two Boys Kissing.
