August Wrap-Up + Haul

August Wrap-Up + Haul

Hello Bookaholics,

It has not been long since my last post (only 4 days if I counted correctly). I am so proud of myself for keeping up with my blogging lately because I have lots more posts scheduled for your entertainment coming. But without further ado, let’s review the books I managed to read – and buy – in the month of August!

My TBR pile as it started out at the end of July

My TBR pile started out quite small and unambitious. I was under the impression that school would put so much pressure on me that I would have very little time to read, which in reality, I had a very successful reading month, reading 6.5 books and 2 ebooksFrom my original TBR pile, I read started off reading Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs and followed this with the fifth Harry Potter book – Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix.

I absolutely loved Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs. This novel is the third installment in the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy which has been adapted into a movie which will be out in cinemas in Australia on September 30. I have posted a review for this book four days ago and if you are interested, please go check it out by clicking here, or on the photo below!

While I was slowly savouring every moment of the super massive Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I went on a downloading spree on iBookpile and downloaded a bunch of ebooks. Two in particular were, The Recovery by Suzanne Young, and Down To the Liar by Mary Elizabeth Summer. These two ebooks are companion stories to The Program series and Trust Me series respectively.

After I finished these ebooks, I savoured The Epidemic as much as I could, but unfortunately it was over too soon for my liking; but I do have a Review for The Epidemic up on my blog which I was super duper excited to post.

My August reading did not not end there! Nu-uh it did not! I also sped through Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling, and made it half way through The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead. This book has been on my TBR since it came out and the reason I amonly half way through it is half due to school and half because it did not live up to all the hype as I expected it to.

This post was suppose to be only a monthly wrap-up, but I purchased only 2 books this month, which I really wanted to share with you all.

  • All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
  • Harry Potter and The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany

I did purchase the last Harry Potter book when it came out on July 31 but since I this was the only book I purchased in July, I added it in this month’s Haul.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthlony Doerr is a multiple award-winning novel about a blind French girl and a German boy whoes paths collide in occipied France as they both try to survive the devistation of World War II. This synopsis from Goodreads was what drove me to buy this book, as well as the amazingly beautiful cover (which you can’t see, but you will, if you hop on over to my Instagram).

and lastly; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne was a MAJOR impulse buy! This is not even a joke. Believe it or not, I was not going to  buy this book, but I was near a bookstore and I just got it. I don’t know how it happened but it did! You can check out my Happy Birthday Harry post by clicking on the link. This post is all about the book and my excitement while taking it out of the bag after I bought it.

That’s all for today! Have a lovely day and Happy Reading xx
