Book Challenge May 16 + Review

16 - Book Challenge May 16 + Review

This has to be one of my favourite bookish photos I have taken. The Guy, The Girl, The Artist and His Ex is a book set in my home city of Melbourne, Australia and details the events that lead up to and preceding the theft of Picasso’s Weeping Woman painting stolen from the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria). Four people; Guy, Rafi, Luke, and Penny are all affected by the theft for four very different reasons. The author, Gabrielle Williams who was […]

Considering I buy all my books based off of their covers, I really don’t own any books (so far) with covers that I totally disagree with so for the Good Book, Bad Cover prompt, Beneath The Skin was my only contender, due to its absence of a dust jacket. Naked books are pretty and all but the cover art on books is so much prettier! But as I have mentioned numerous times, both on this blog and on Instagram, this book is freeking amazing […]

I don’t really take my books out of the house much, mostly because I very rarely go out, and also because I’m a little bit scared that my books will be damaged. These beautiful quotes are featured at the beginning of More Than This by Patrick Ness who is one of the most amazing writers I have encountered thus far and is probably second to J.K. Rowling in my Top 3 Authors.   The Quotes featured are… “You ask  a question in […]

I am now the proud owner of my favourite childhood books! Yay for me! The only downside is that they’re canceled library books from my school library. The upside? They were free! (left to right); The Battle for Rondo, The Wizard of Rondo, The Key to Rondo, Before Green Gables, and Sherlock Holmes Long Stories.   Love, Bree xx   I’m a Book Depository Affiliate! Partial Books = Partial Shelfie. In the darkness lurks the dangerous books, that will trap you within their pages, keeping you entranced by the words so carefully crafted together by the fine hands of an author, who’s life purpose is to sell to you the tools for your own destruction.   Love, Bree xx   I’m a Book Depository Affiliate! Can you all make out who is in the photo tacked onto the door?  If you said The Fat Lady from Harry Potter, you are correct! No one knows who put her there (probably our teachers) but The Fat Lady greets us every morning when we walk through the door into our classroom; until one day when she mysteriously disappeared and never came back. Quite sad actually. To remember The Fat Lady, she will represent my favourite fandom – second to the […]

Yesterday I purchased both Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix by J.K. Rowling, and The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan from K-mart. K-mart stores provide their customers with a selection of cheap paperback books that range in price from $9-15 AUD a book. This purchase now means that I own the last 3 Harry Potter books from 5-7 in paperback. I’m purchasing them ‘backwards’ because I have so many books on my TBR that I cannot be tempted […]

Place your books in a bookish bag and take them somewhere nice or better yet, bring books home in a bookstore issued bag. I purchased these a while ago from Robinson’s Bookshop, and I haven’t read Another Day yet but I have finished His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. His Dark Materials was recommended to me last year by my English Language teacher who claimed that it was her favourite series, telling me she had read the whole series in […]

Time to show some much-needed love to those books which have been beaten and bruised, battered and used. Here is my worn out book. It’s titled; ‘The Treasury of Knowledge’ and belonged to my father before I found it and put it in a place where it will be kept safe and unharmed. This book and has been worn and taped up on the spine so that the hard cover and the pages are not aligned and the old tape […]

May the four five book spines be with you. Cover the covers and show the spines because sometimes they are cooler than the actual covers (to be honest). Much like these ones… These are my favourite secondhand books by Conn Iggulden from two different series. The Conqueror Series;  Bones of The Hills (bk.3) Empire of Silver (bk.4) Conqueror (bk.5)   The Emperor Series; The Field of Swords (bk.3) The Gods of War (bk.4)     Till Tomorrow, Bree xx © Jasper+Spice 2015.
