Hai Beautiful!

8 Month Writing Update!

It feels like not that long ago that I updated you on my novel in the 7-month update. Funny enough, I don’t actually remember where I was in the story when I talked about it last. Let me just check back on that post real quick!

Here’s what happened in the last update…

- At the end of last month, I was reaching 65,000 words
- We chatted about songs that were on my writing playlist
- I thought I was so close to the end of my novel

That was May! Now It’s June and 6,000 words and an entire month later, I have achieved two (2) milestones within my novel!

I’ve hit the 70k mark in my WIP!
Every 10k after 40,000 words, has been a cause for celebration for me during the writing of this WIP.
Before I started this novel, I was writing a YA Contemporary titled Realise, which I’m sure I’ve mentioned on here. It was becoming too mentally taxing for me at the time, and with my current skill level in writing, I didn’t feel confident enough to complete it.
I had written about 36k before I put it on hold. It was the most I’d ever written on a novel ever, so passing that was always my goal. Although, every time I better myself is always a reason for celebration in my eyes.
I fleshed out the ambiguous backstory/ lore within the novel.
This may not seem major but it is actually a huge part of the novel as this information is integral to understanding how the entire story wraps up.

Funny enough, I’m scared to write the ending. Something about messing up or rushing the ending after I’ve so carefully built up the story and developed these precious characters. I don’t want to write the ending and just destroy all of my hard work.

I completely understand that this is the first draft and I will probably add another 10k or so to it in editing, but agh it’s so hard to not be in such a perfectionist mindset when all I’ve been working towards is nearly here. The ending of this novel is right in front of me, another 10k or so and I will have finished my first ever novel! I can’t believe I will actually be able to say that!!!!

The good thing is, I know what I have to do and how to complete the novel, my wandering brain will fill in all the gaps while I’m writing. It will happen and once it’s all complete, there will be a video on my YouTube channel talking all about this novel AND revealing the title!

THAT’S RIGHT!!

I will be revealing the title of this WIP, which has remained titleless since I started it in November of 2019, on my YouTube channel once the first draft has been completed!

I Love You by The Neighbourhood
I spent so much time on TikTok that I’ve actually begun downloading the songs that people use in their videos to my Spotify playlist. One such is Sweater Weather on this album. This album was released in 2013 but I didn’t even know about this band until TikTok!
