Announcing My 2020 NaNoWriMo Project!

Hai Writers!

Hopefully, this will be my year!

Despite all the craziness of 2020, we all have things we’ve been looking forward to this year that will never fail us.

One such reliable event is the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. An event that runs online for the entire month of November with participants from all corners of the globe!

For the fourth year in a row I will be attempting the challenge with _ other writers to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month!

Trackers & Regular Updates

My writing screen looks like this:Screen Shot 2020 11 04 at 8.19.27 pm 1024x640 - Announcing My 2020 NaNoWriMo Project!

I have a Pages writing document open on the right-hand side of the split-screen; 11,500 words strong (inclusive of the 2-page plan) and on the left, an internet window.

The internet window has the following tabs open: Pinterest, Pacemaker, NaNoWriMo, Wattpad & Twitter!Screen Shot 2020 11 04 at 8.19.43 pm 1024x68 - Announcing My 2020 NaNoWriMo Project!

Why do I have these tabs open, and what am I tracking??

Pinterest Board
I keep this tab open as a visual mood board to keep me inspired while I’m writing. You can view my board at this link if you want to see the inspo that I’ll be staring at every day this month!

I’ve included above a few photos from that board that sum up the general just of the novel without giving anything away.

Pacemaker
I absolutely loooove this website! It helps me track my writing progress, input and adjust my goals, and so much more.

As of the 2nd of November, I am on track to finish 85,000 words by December 30, 2020.

NaNoWriMo
Obviously, I have to keep updating this page. If you’d like to keep up with my progress, you can follow me and check out what I’m working on!

I’ll be updating the NaNo website every time I update my Pacemaker tracker.

Wattpad
I started writing this novel as a Wattpad project. I wanted to upload each chapter as I wrote it and gain feedback in real-time as I wrote. The only issue with that was, well… Lockdown and everything that came with it really killed my writing mojo. I hope to pick up the updates since I’m rewriting everything again anyways.

Twitter
I posted my NaNoWriMo announcement tweet the other day and I hope to periodically add to that thread and tell people about my writing!

There is a huge writing community on Twitter that I should take advantage of. I don’t spend much time on Twitter because it is so toxic, but that’s a story for another day.

Motivation

Staying motivated is something everyone struggles with when trying to write a novel. It’s especially hard when you’re part of a worldwide, month-long writing competition and everyone seems to be doing so much better than you at everything.

I have 3 main tips for staying motivated:

  1. Have a group of writer friends to talk about your writing with!
  2. Keep your Pinterest board or a physical mood board open and in view whenever you’re writing!
  3. Talk about your writing! TELL EVERYONE!

Writing Vlogs!

Since I started this WIP, I have since uploaded three vlogs to my channel, all of which I love dearly and am so proud of!
