5 Month Writing Update: From NaNo To Now (SW#50)

Hai Beautiful People!

It’s time for another writing update!!

I want to start off by saying that I am aware of how crazy and topsy-turvy the world has become. I hope you are all safe and staying at home, keeping yourselves busy and staying productive. May these posts give you the spark of inspiration or that idle entertainment you need during this time xx

If you’ve seen my last writing update, half a month ago now, I did say that I was working on making these updates monthly as to make them worthwhile.

This means that the next writing update will hopefully be one of two things:
1. Talking about how I finished my WIP
OR
2. Telling you that I am almost at the end!

I’m getting ahead of myself a little, so let’s start off with, today’s update!

Now, I know I am always very hopeful, but this month is Camp NaNoWriMo and I am to write a very much achievable 20,000 words during this event and finish this dang novel! That is the same amount of words I wrote in the NaNoWriMo event in 2019, in which this novel originated, so I think it’s possible. Especially with the self-isolation and all.

In my last update, I listed my total word count as 36,039 and I can proudly say that within the two weeks since I posted that update, I have written almost 8,000 more words!

This brings my current total word count to 42,822 words.

This is really awesome considering yesterday’s writer’s block in which I managed to write 1,000 words. Although those words were not part of the story, they are part of the plan but still prove essential to the establishment of the story and that’s why I’ve included them in the word count.

I want to give a little shoutout to both Sarah and Austin, two of my friends who helped me fill out a plot hole in the plan that was preventing me from writing.

A few current stats about my WIP:
♥ I currently have 140 pages on the document
♥ I am writing the start of chapter 16
♥ There are 26 chapters planned till the end of the story, including the epilogue
♥ Of course, there are less than 20,000 words until I reach my goal of 60k!

I hope you enjoyed this and that you are taking this chance to get some writing done, maybe even complete those odd jobs and tasks around the house. Remember the ones you said you’d do “if you had time”?

Whatever it is you are spending your at-home time on, make sure it is productive, hygienic and enjoyable.

If you’re writing, let me know how your writing is going?
