The Ultimate Book Tag

Heyo Bookaholics!

It’s Tag Time!

My best friend Tracy – whom I’ve probably mentioned over 100 times on this blog, and will mention 100 more – has a blog Truffle Reads and tagged me to do The Ultimate Book Tag! I haven’t done a book tag in what feels like eons, and it’s finally fun to be doing on again. You’ll be seeing more tags in the future courtesy of Tracy x

Do You Get Sick While Reading in the Car?

Yes OMG yes! I only wish I could read, or even look at my phone in the car without feeling nauseous, but I’ve somewhat trained myself to be able to read on the train to and from work.

Which Author’s Writing is Completely Unique to You and Why?

Oh wow, so I just read I Had Such Friends by Meg Gatland-Vaness and she writes like Aussies talk and I think it is such a unique way of an author bringing their culture – if it even is a culture idk – into their writing.

Harry Potter Series or Twilight? Give 3 points Why.

Harry Potter.

  • I’ve never read Twilight and only heard the bad things.
  • I’ve passed my time to read and enjoy the books.
  • The Harry Potter movies are far better than the Twilight movies

TBH my reasons are all weird and biased sooooo… Next Question plz.

Do You Carry a Book Bag? If So, What’s in it (besides books)?

Is it a book bag if it has purposes other than carrying books; because the bag I carry is for work always has a book in it.

A few of the things you can find in my work bag beside a book includes (besides the obvious keys, phone  & wallet):

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • My reading glasses
  • Two Pens
  • An umbrella
  • Nail file & emergency lipstick

Do You Smell your Books?

OF COURSE! You need to smell your books, it’s like a way of marking your territory with books. I am not joking because I actually do this in bookstores to the books I wish to own. It’s also a very welcoming and calming feeling.

Books With or Without Little Illustrations?

Both.

Do You have any Funny Stories Involving Books from Your Childhood?

Mum would always take me to the library to borrow all the books and when I was done picking all the ones I’d hoped to read; I’d get to the counter with a bag full of books and pull them out one by one. I was this short kid on her tippy-toes pulling books out of a seemingly never-ending bag and the lady behind the counter always laughed endearingly at me. Not really a funny story but a fond memory.

What is the Thinnest Book on Your Shelf?

Uhh, I think the thinnest book is a recent purchase of mine: Hotel Valhalla a companion novel to the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series.

What is the Thickest Book on Your Shelf?

Well, now I must get up from my bed and compare my books… brb.

I believe the thickest book I own is The Marvels by Brian Selznick with it’s brilliant gold edged pages.

Do You Write as Well as Read? Do You See Yourself as an Author in the Future?

OMG YES I HAVE SO MANY POSTS (and one video) ABOUT MY WRITING AND I REALLY WANT TO BE AN AUTHOR!

List of my writing posts:

When Did You Get into Reading?

When I was very very young. I always had to read for school and my mum really encouraged reading, hence the above story of me coming home with 20+ books I’d hope to read. I’d say I can’t put an age on it but I’ve always loved reading books and falling into the stories they offer.

What is Your Favourite Classic Book?

I don’t read classics so I can’t really answer this one.

In School, What was Your Best Subject?

Accounting. I hated English with a passion and loved math with every fibre of my being, but accounting was my middle ground because I knew it has always been my dream so I was really driven to do well in it. Though in my younger years I’d say I was always pretty okay at math and history.

If You Were Given a Book as a Present that You had Read Before and Hated, What Would You Do?

I’d do one of two things:

  1. If the person tells me that they’ll exchange it if I don’t like it, I’ll be honest and ask for another book.
  2. If there was no offer to change the book, I’d give it to a friend who likes the book or donate it to a library or charity shop – but I’d keep it for a bit especially if it has a pretty cover #aesthetics.

What is a Lesser Known Series that You Know of That is Similar to Harry Potter or The Hunger Games?

The Mortality Doctrine series by James Dashner – the same author as The Maze Runner – is a fun middle grade read that has similar elements but in all honesty is closer to Warcross than Harry Potter or Hunger Games.

What is Your Favourite Word?

As I read this question to myself, my favourite word disappears from mine head. I don’t really have a favourite, I just find a word every so often and use it excessively in everything because words are so wonderful and we can never have enough of them.

Are you a Nerd, Dork or Dweeb?

All? Maybe more nerd… I do love a good game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Vampires or Fairies? Why?

Fairies because they’re notorious for finding loopholes in things, as in one book I read, they’re incapable of telling lies but that doesn’t restrict them from playing tricks. They also kidnap humans and make them dance until their legs fall off. From a human perspective, this is bad, but I’d have a ball if I was a faerie.

Shapeshifters or Angels?

Really? Agh okay Angels because shapeshifters scare the shit out of me. Like don’t get me started on identity theft irl and how I do not want to be convicted of a murder I never physically committed; it’d be like everyone and everything in the world having a twin with possible murderous tendencies.

Spirits or Werewolves?

Neither plz. Spirits scare me because they hide in the dark and I don’t f*ck with that, and werewolves will rip my throat out.

Zombies or Vampires?

Another big nope because disease and bloodsuckers, but I’m going to choose Vampires because they can be fun to f*ck with if you want to. Like, wanna keep them away? Garlic bread. Don’t consent to what they want to do? They can’t enter your house without permission.

Full on Romance Books or Action-Packed With a Few Love Scenes Mixed in?

Action-Packed with floofy love scenes! You can tell I love this because The Inversion (the book I’m writing) has a mix of floofy love scenes and lots of weird af action.

Well I really hoped you enjoyed this post, and I tag everyone who reads this to have a go; because if you reached the end of this post, I love and appreciate you and you deserve to be tagged xx
