August Wrap-Up + Haul!

August Wrap-Up + Haul!

Heyo Bookaholics

And That Concludes Winter!

YIKES! I’ve been waiting for this moment all year. Today marks the very first day of Spring, which means that summer is only 3 months away and I can. not. wait!

Books I Read!

This month I finished City of Saints and Thieves by Natalie C. Anderson, Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner, and A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Mass which I will have a review up for next Monday the 3rd of September. Spoiler alert! Wings do get ruined but in my opinion, it is the best book in the series.

This month I finished City of Saints and Thieves by Natalie C. Anderson which I wrote posted a 4-star review for on the first Monday of this month. I really enjoyed how even though this book was middle-grade, it dealt with some serious issues such as refugees, murder and teen homelessness, which I really like to see discussed with a younger (and older) audience.

The second book I read was Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner which I had mixed feelings about but inevitably loved. It was targeted as a crossover between Indiana Jones and Guardians of The Galaxy and totally lived up to the hype.

I was not expecting to but I adored this novel. The character development and storyline were so wonderful and gripping that I had a hard time putting this book down.

Sarah J. Mass’ writing style is so beautiful, calming me when I read it allowing the words only to fill me with emotions. I will have a review up for this book on Monday 3/9.

Books I Acquired!

It doesn’t feel like many to me, but in August I managed to acquire 11 books total! I had 2 books kindly sent to me from Bloomsbury, and I purchased 6 Rick Riordan books, plus 2 by Lili Wilkinson at the signing for her newest book After The Lights Go Out.

I went to the book signing for Lili Wilkinson’s new book; After The Lights Go Out, which I compiled into a post that you can read by clicking here. At this event, I purchased the debut book After The Lights Go Out, and Joan of Arc – a book I read years ago and I still love to this day.

I then purchased 6 Rick Riordan books, picking up the Percy Jackson Box Set (inclusive of the Greek Gods novella), and Hotell Valhalla: Guide To The Norse Worlds novella. Both were found at QBD the bookshop and I can’t wait to finally read Percy J. and understand all the hype over the series!

I was then sent Open Road Summer by Emery Lord, and The Universe Is Expanding and So Am I by Carolyn Mackler from Bloomsbury which I am eternally thankful for.

The Universe Is Expanding and So Am I by Carolyn Mackler is the sequel to The Earth, My Butt, and Other Round Things by the same author. It has been 15 years since the first book was published; and both books deal with the topic of eating disorders, mental health and self-depreciation. I’m hesitant to pick this one up but I am very excited to read Open Road Summer, knowing it’ll be a fluffy ride (maybe I’ll save it for summer!).

What books did you read this month!? Have you achieved a significant reading goal? I was really proud of reading ACOWAR this month because it’s such a big novel!

Is there anything you’re looking forward to in September? Any fun events or book releases?
