July Monthly Wrap-Up aka My Favourite Post of The Month!

Heyo Bookaholics!

I Read, I Blogged, I Conquered!

Hot Damn! Let me start off by saying that the weather this month has been horrendous; although I am so glad that the days seem to be getting longer and brighter so it doesn’t feel quite so scary when I get home from work at 6pm and it’s pitch black.

I will mention the books I hauled in this post, but there will be a more extensive haul on my channel in the near future, hopefully in a couple of weeks when I finish editing it. I hauled a total of 17 books, half of which are Shadowhunter related (because I’m totally not crazy…)

Books I Read!

July was my most productive reading month in which I read three (and a half) books! It may not sound like much but for me that’s heaps. I read Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, A Monster Calls by Patrick Nessand All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I’ve linked the reviews which you can also view by clicking on the images.

After so long I managed to bring myself to read Obsidio in which I had my heart torn out, stopped on, and my pain laughed at by the authors; until they just said YOLO and gave it back with the biggest plot twists of the century. If you haven’t read this book (or this series) I’m not sure what you’re doing with your life; so please click onto the Book Depository link and purchase this book/ series asap.

A Monster Calls was another book that tore at my heart, though it left it broken beyond repair. I feel that this book has to be experienced by every person and cannot have a critical review done on it. I learnt so much and I feel like I know myself better as a person after reading it.

I read this book mostly in AudioBook format and it was f*cking brutal. I didn’t expect a book that had two young teens as the protagonists to be so raw and realistic. To start off so conflicting then end so full of heartbreak and heartache. This is a dual perspective novel that does a fair amount of time skipping, though if you can keep up I’m sure you’ll love this novel.

And lastly, I started to read City of Saints and Thieves by Natalie C. Anderson. It is amazing, I’m nearly finished and wow I really don’t want it to end!

The story is so captivating. A simple yet complicated heist turns into a murder mystery, and every time an answer to the arrises, they’re blocked by more questions; until…

Read the book, or my spoiler review to find out!

Books I Bought!

I purchased 14 books this month! These include the following; The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick, All The Light That Gets Lost by Natasha Carthew, Zenith by Saha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings, The House of Hades, The Blood of Olympus, and Magnus Chase and The Hammer of Thor all by Rick Riordan.img 4412 - July Monthly Wrap-Up aka My Favourite Post of The Month!

I also purchased The Mortal Instruments box set in hardback as I had been eyeing it off on the Book Depository for a very long time; as well as two copies (hardback and paperback) of The Shadowhunter’s Codex. All the Shadowhunter books are by Cassandra Clare and I hold them very close to my heart.

Books I Was Sent!

I was kindly contacted by Pantera Press to be put on their mailing list, and honestly, it was the proudest moment in my blogging ‘career’. The lovely people there sent me a copy of Akarnae by Lynette Noni and a copy of their latest release I Had Such Friends by Meg Gatland-Vaness. I Had Such Friends will be on my August TBR for next month.

While filming my book haul for July, my mother walked in with a package from Bloomsbury in which I unboxed a copy of The Brink of Darkness by Jeff Giles, the sequel to The Edge Of Everything by the same author, a book I have reviewed and very much liked. A copy of Skylarks by Karen Gregory was also included. I haven’t heard much about it so I’m keen to dive in blind.

What books did you read this month!? Have you reached a significant point in your reading goal? I’ve almost made it half way which is quite exciting.

Is there anything you’re looking forward to in August? Any fun events or book releases?
