The Edge Of Everything by Jeff Giles | Non-Spoiler Review

The Edge Of Everything by Jeff Giles | Non-Spoiler Review
I was sent a copy of The Edge Of Everything by Jeff Giles from Bloomsbury in December 2016, in exchange for an honest review prior to the release date.

Hey Ho Bookaholics!

Wow okay so I’m back from a crazy long break at not posting due to I work and planning/ packing for my holiday (which I am currently enjoying), but because it is Review Monday and I have missed two Review Monday’s in a row (shame on me) I am bringing to you a very special review.

This is a book that has absolutely captured – and kept a part of – my heart when I read it in the closing weeks of 2016. If you saw my Summer TBR post, you will know that I included it in my December TBR which I had no hope in finishing, though this was one of two novels I’d actually read, out of the total seven books I planned to read in the month.

the edge of everything book cover - The Edge Of Everything by Jeff Giles | Non-Spoiler ReviewGoodreads Summary:

It’s been a shattering year for seventeen-year-old Zoe, who’s still reeling from her father’s shockingly sudden death in a caving accident and her neighbors’ mysterious disappearance from their own home. Then on a terrifying sub-zero, blizzardy night in Montana, she and her brother are brutally attacked in a cabin in the woods–only to be rescued by a mysterious bounty hunter they call X.

X is no ordinary bounty hunter. He is from a hell called the Lowlands, sent to claim the soul of Zoe’s evil attacker and others like him. Forbidden to reveal himself to anyone other than his victims, X casts aside the Lowlands’ rules for Zoe. As X and Zoe learn more about their different worlds, they begin to question the past, their fate, and their future. But escaping the Lowlands and the ties that bind X might mean the ultimate sacrifice for both of them.

I was sent a paperback copy of this book from Bloomsbury not even 5 days ago in exchange for an honest review and when I received this I was over the moon! The cover excited me so much as it is so beautiful, simplistic, yet tells the whole story beautifully; and let’s not get started on the whiteness of the pages!

When I received The Edge Of Everything it was an uncorrected proof and was littered with praise from the likes of Cassandra Clare, James Dashner, Kami Garcia, and Peter Jackson; and when you know that an Oscar-winning director has praised this book so highly it must be better than ‘good’!

As promised, I fell in absolute love with X and many of the other characters in this book. I will not – and cannot – spoil anything in this book as it is scheduled for publication next February, though I will be, in this post giving you a non-spoiler review on this book and why it should be your most anticipated read of February 2017

Everything from the writing to the characters to the amount of similies used made this book so enjoyable for me. Very rarely can I sit down and focus on one task at hand without getting distracted and moving on. I didn’t have to force myself to sit down and continue this book, instead it grabbed me by the shoulders and threw me down demanding to be read. I was so engrossed in the storyline and the story of every individual character, I needed to finish this book. This story was like a drug and reading this book put me on an unexplainable high that whenever I closed the book I could feel myself coming down from this high and feeling dizzy with so many unexplained questions – made worse by me being sick – though the pain was all real and almost physical; even more so when I closed the book for the very last time.

This book made it so when a character was introduced, mentioned or contributed to the story even a little bit, they were remembered. Every person mentioned had their own life and story, and where in many other books you are aware of that for the instance the secondary character is mentioned, in this book, you think about every other characters lives and problems long after they leave the stage.

★ Rating ★

I gave this book a ★★★★★ (5/5 star) rating on Goodreads, even though I wished I could give it way, way more stars than the restricting 5, although even if the stars went all the way to another galaxy I would follow them just to give this book the recognition and praise it deserves.

Thank You, Jeff Giles for proving me and everyone else out there with this amazing masterpiece of literature, it was both a gift and a blessing when I came home to see it sitting on my desk, littered with promising reviews and a beautiful premise – which I only realised had been released when I was halfway through the book (oops).

.

Stay Happy, Healthy, and have a Lovely Week!!

.

Thank You so much for reading and I hope to see you all back here again Hopefully Next Week If Not Sooner 🙂
