The Secret Life of A Book Blogger Tag

Hey Ho Bookaholics!

I was tagged by Nicole and Linda over at Pages Pixies to do the Secret Life of a Book Blogger tag! Thank you so much again guys for tagging me, and I recommend you all go click on the link above to check out their blog, then come back here to read about my secret life as a book blogger!

What is the best part of [book blogging]?

Being a part of a community that understands each other and don’t judge me for loving books, and most recently, receiving free books from publishers.

I also love that I have an excuse to use gifs like this one from my favourite movies and make pop culture references that no one but my readers will understand.

I really love talking about books! There never goes a day where I don’t talk to people about my current read or show unsusoecting visitors my newly sorted bookshelves, and it disheartens me every time I mention books and people look away bored and disinterested. On here, I can talk freely about books I do and don’t like, while improving my writing and commuication skills.

What is the worst part?

Having posts posted on time.

Over the past few months my blogging schedule had become Mondays and Saturdays with Mondays becoming review days and Saturdays being book tag/ other post type days.

How long does it take you to find/take pictures to use?

Not too long. I usually use photos I have taken to put on Instagram so I can promote the upcomming post, or I take photos for Instagram and leave some asside to use in future blog posts regarding the same book. I tend to use covers from Goodreads for most of my reviews so people can get a clear idea of what the book looks like when reading my review, plus one photo of mine to break up the writing.

When looking up gifs, I usually save them and upload them onto WordPress for future reference, especially if I already have posts scheduled for the future.

Who’s your book crush?

This is so hard! I always come back to Will Herondale as an immediate response but really, my one true love is Raphael Santiago and will always be the Raphael Santiago.

If you don’t already know Raphael is from The Mortal Instruments (TMI) book series, which is my favourite book series of all time and I believe everyone should read these! I do not like how he is portrayed in the television show because he is a 15-year-old vampire and not a 20-year-old punk.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

Lauren Oliver!!

I have only read the full Delirium series written by Lauren and I plan to read the rest of her works in the near future, especially Gemina. I have emailed her back and forth quite a few times and she is a lovely person to speak to and I think she’d be an amazing person to have on any blog.

Though, next year I am having the author of Initiate – Laura L. Fox – on my blog for a Q&A in anticipation for the sequal to her first book Initiate, and this I am very very excited for!

What do you wear when you write your blog?

Whatever I am wearing at the time. Usually I blog at night when I am in my most comfiest clothes, so most times I wear pijyamas or trackies (joggers?) and a lose t-shirt  or tight singlet, I’m not fussy as long as I’m comfy!

How long does it take you to prepare a post?

Depending on the type of post and my level of laziness – I mean busyness – I tend to write the post gradually over a few days or I’ll write it all in one night before bed, hence the reason why some of my Saturday posts are posted on a Sunday, or my Monday review posts become Tuesday review posts. Oops!

I kinda feel really bed for doing this to you all when I promised you times that I will actually upload posts but I hope all is forgiven and the content I post, makes up for my late posting.

How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

I LOVE THE BOOK BLOGGER COMMUNITY!!! This is the only reason I have stayed a book blogger. I wouldnt’ve continued book blogging if I didn’t like the community. I have met many friends and discovered many more amazing book blogs in my non-blogging time trauling through WordPress, Bloglovin’ and Instagram.

Everyone is so welcoming and encouraging in this community. It makes me feel so much more confident when writing posts for my blog, that I will be supported and surrounded by like minded people.

What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?

Bloggers should talk to and interact with their readers by keeping active on social media accounts, replying to comments and following other blogs back to establish good relationships.

I feel that the interaction between reader and writer is a big one, because for someone to form a deep connection with a blog in a community like ours, they need to undertand the person behind the blog. Talking to readers also gives the writer a bettwe inderstanding of what content they should be posting on their blog to please their readers and attract future readers.

Finally, who do you tag?

Jenaire | @abooktopia.weebly

Bri | @paperbackbri

Wing-yee | @bibliophillicmedstudent

These blogs are just three of my favourite people who have made me feel welcome and like I belong in this community of time-poor, book-loving introverts and for these girls I am greatful!  I would love to hear about your sectre lives as book bloggers.

Don’t Forget to Stay Happy, Healthy & Keep your Head up High!!

Thank You so much for reading and I hope to see you all back here again Tomorrow 🙂
